The availability of the first approved vaccines against COVID-19 is welcome news as companies contemplate a return of their employees to the workplace. Yet companies also face challenges related to the vaccine and the role it will play in allowing them to reopen their facilities. Questions abound: How should you approach the vaccine issue? Should you offer it to your employees, or place the responsibility for vaccinations on workers in conjunction with public health authorities and providers like hospitals, clinics, or pharmacies? Should you require employees to be vaccinated before returning to work, and if so, how will you do that? Regardless of how employees obtain it, will you — or should you — pay for it?
