Washington State Minimum Wage and Salary Threshold Increase for 2023

The Washington State minimum wage will see a steep increase in 2023, due to the 8.6% rate of inflation. https://www.lni.wa.gov/news-events/article/22-026

The minimum hourly wage for employees sixteen and older will increase to $15.74 per hour. Employees aged 14 to 15 years must earn at least $13.38 per hour. More generous minimum wages must be paid to employees working in the cities of Seattle and SeaTac. https://lni.wa.gov/workers-rights/wages/minimum-wage/

The salary threshold for exempt employees will also see an increase in 2023. For small employers with one (1) to fifty (50) employees, the minimum weekly salary will increase to $1,101.80 per week ($57,293.60 annually). Large employers with fifty-one (51) or more employees will need to ensure that their exempt employees are earning at least $1,259.20 per week ($65,478.40 annually). https://www.lni.wa.gov/forms-publications/f700-207-000.pdf
